Valerie Gill, LISW

Valerie is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the state of Iowa with over 25 years of experience. Valerie works with teenagers, adults, couples, and families.

Her specializations include trauma (PTSD), sexual abuse, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, grief, LGBTQ, life transitions, and loss. She has extensive training and experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR – level I and II), and Gottman Method Couples Therapy (level I and II).

In addition to her work as an outpatient therapist, she worked as a residential therapist, a medical social worker, a victim advocate, and a college lecturer. She has a variety of experiences working with people from diverse backgrounds.

Working from a strengths-based approach, Valerie leverages her breadth of professional, academic, and life experiences to assist her clients. She utilizes evidence-based interventions and continually researches best practices. She strives to support her clients with empathy and compassion.

Valerie is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).

Amy Steve, LISW

Life’s journey can create many experiences that lead us through paths of adventure and also challenge. When we are faced with difficulties and hardships in life, the road can often leave us feeling isolated, lonely, ashamed, weak, unloved, and even broken.

Hello! My name is Amy Steve. I am a licensed Independent Social Worker, but more importantly, I am a mental health therapist and individual that is compassionate and cares deeply about helping children, adolescents, and adults overcome the roadblocks that they may face on their journey through life.

In practice, I approach each person with acceptance, authenticity, and a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to share your story. I believe that each person is unique, so that is why therapeutic treatment will be individually tailored to meet your specific needs.

I have experience working with a variety of individuals to address a wide range of emotional and behavioral concerns. Special interests include the treatment of anxiety, depression/mood disorders, ADHD, children with emotional-behavioral issues, anger management, life transitions, relationship issues, self-esteem, trauma, stress management, and grief/loss issues.

I utilize person centered, strengths based, and solution focused approaches through integrating a variety of therapy techniques that includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Play Therapy, Expressive Art Therapy, and Mindfulness.

Amanda Cook, LISW


Amanda is a Licensed Independent Social Worker who was born and raised in the midwest. She has over 10 years of clinical experience working with at-risk youth in PMIC and residential settings, various family and youth services, hospital social work, school based therapy, and community mental health. She enjoys working with children, teenagers, and adults.

 

Amanda specializes in using eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, Expressive Arts, Mindfulness, and strengths based approaches to help individuals address a range of needs, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, self-esteem, mood disorders, and various life transitions.

 

Amanda understands that life is hard sometimes. No matter where you are on your journey she is ready to work together to provide the mental health care you need to thrive and overcome life’s challenges. She provides sessions in a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable communicating your thoughts and feelings. Therapy is the first step in validating your needs and starting the healing process.

Beth Garza, LISW

Hi, I’m Beth Garza. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker. I returned to Eastern Iowa after living in many locations for more than 25 years as a military spouse. This has given me a diverse perspective on culture, the human condition, and what makes us unique as individuals.

Special interests include the treatment of anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, moral injury, mood disorders, life transitions, grief/loss, self-esteem, and relationship issues. I work with an integrative, holistic, and strengths-based approach including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Trauma informed Care, and Humanistic Therapy.

I believe that therapy is a collaborative process between the therapist and client. In practice I use warm, direct, and authentic communication. I empower clients to identify and accomplish goals, while utilizing their strengths for change.
